Less than two days to go until Kapcon! So here's some last-minute notices:
Registration for small larps is now open. We don't have very many this year, so space is limited (of course if you want to offer one, you can submit it via the usual form).
We're not running any larps in rounds 1 or 2 this year because of the Megagame, but we've got stuff in later rounds. Specifically:
If you'd like to register, please email me on kapcon@gmail.com. As with tabletops, I'll be running a "shark week" with allocation on preferences (for round 3 at least), after which it is first come, first served. If you are a GM, you can beat the system by exercising a GM pick (so GM a game, people :)
One of our attendees has pointed out that, at Kapcon this year, we gendered the unisex bathrooms on the top floor of the convention. This made some of our trans and non-binary attendees uncomfortable. We unreservedly apologise for our decision in this situation, which was due to confusion over the remodeling of the school's bathrooms during the convention. One of the Kapcon values is a strong commitment to being welcoming to all our attendees, and we failed to live up to this value here. We've learned from this mistake, and it won't happen again.
As usual, KapCon is running a number of small larps this year alongside the ordinary tabletop sessions. Because these larps require costuming and casting, we are allowing players to preregister for them.
The larps in question are:
Round 3: LARP: On Display (6 spaces)
Round 6: LARP: Raising the Standards (12 spaces)
Round 7: LARP: On Display (6 spaces)
To ensure everyone has a fair shot, we will be running a mini "shark week". Initial registrations will be taken by email between Monday 30 November and midnight Friday 4 December, after which games will be allocated. Where a game is oversubscribed, the decision will be random.
Following the initial signup period, games will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
If you would like to preregister for one of these slots, please email kapcon@gmail.com. I'll let you know next week which game you've been allocated to.
Note that there are still spaces in the round 1 and 2 larps (which you sign up for using the registration form, and in the flagship Apotheosis (which you can sign up for here). There's also a host of fantastic tabletops as well, so don't worry about missing out. There will be something good to play regardless.
To increase the number of round 2 games offered, Luke Walker's Urban Shadow game, Handful of Dust, will be replaced by an Urban Shadows game run by James Plunket. Those attendees who registered for Luke's game will be automatically shifted over to James' game.
Please send an email to kapcon@gmail.com if you would like to change your round 2 selection.
The setting timeline for the Kapcon LARP Apotheosis has been posted. It can be reached from the LARP page. Please have a look. Let us know if you have any questions.
Kapcon wants your larps!
We are planning to run a larp stream this year, with the aim of providing around 24 player spaces per round. The parameters of running a larp at kapCon are pretty simple: runs in 3 hours, fits in a classroom, 8 - 15 players, minimal set-dressing (because you won't have time to do it between rounds). Please also note that the changing facilities aren't great, so costume-light is an advantage.
We will pre-register players if your game is costumed, to allow you to cast in advance.
If you're interested, please fill out the game registration form
We'd like to have larps for rounds 1 and 2 at least sorted by mid-October for the main launch, and the sooner we have a larp timetable set the sooner we can start getting players.
Want a KapCon 2015 t-shirt? You can order one here.
Orders are due by January 4.

To ensure everyone has a fair shot, we will be running a mini "shark week". Initial registrations will be taken by email between Thursday 4 December and midnight Monday 8 December, after which games will be allocated. Where a game is oversubscribed, the decision will be random. In rounds where there are multiple options, I am happy to take a first and second preference.
Following the initial signup period, games will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
If you would like to preregister for one of these slots, please email kapcon@gmail.com. I'll let you know next week which game you've been allocated to.
There is another game likely for round 7, and I'll open registrations for that when I receive a blurb.
Note that there are a host of fantastic tabletops as well, so don't worry about "missing out". There will be something good to play regardless.
This year's KapCon flagship is Crisis Point, a superhero larp covering everything from spandex-wearing caped crusaders to modern gritty and grim antiheroes. You can register for it here. Please remember that you will need to register for the convention as well.
