I'm running demos for 6 recent RPGs.
- The Mountain Witch (genre: samurai) is about a group of ronin hired to kill the sorcerer who lives at the top of Mount Fuji.
- My Life with Master (genre: horror) is about the minions of an evil genius, and how they struggle to resist his commands.
- Inspectres (genre: horror / comedy) is about a group of everyday people who set up a company to eliminate supernatural menaces. It?s hard to say which is more dangerous ? the monsters or the stress of running your own business.
- Primetime Adventures is a game where we create a weekly TV show (usually filled with character-based action like Buffy or Battlestar Galactica), and then play out an episode of it.
- Universalis is a game about creating stories, where everyone is a GM. We'll play through the set-up of a game, decide on a genre, and run through as many scenes as possible.
- Burning Empires (genre: science fiction) is set in the far future, where the empires of humanity are under threat from body-snatching worms. We?ll run a short player vs. player social conflict, called a Duel of Wits, to look at how arguments can be just as deadly as firefights in this setting.
I want to showcase these different systems, and answer any questions you might have.
Players will rotate between each demo, so everyone will get a go. That means, depending on numbers, you may not be playing for the full three hours. However, you will be contributing ideas and questions during the whole session.
I'm going to try and create complete, satisfying, and very, very short play experiences for each demo. We'll see how that pans out.
Edit: Due to work commitments, I've had to reduce the number of games I'm demoing in this session. If there?s enough time at the end, I?ll have other games to play, including The Pool (genre: whatever we decide), Unspeakable (genre: Lovecraftian horror), Unistat (genre: whatever we decide), and Bacchanal (genre: Roman sexual fantasy).
