Escape from DL-526

Facilitator:
Mike Sands

The only thing worse than not finishing your sampling run was being captured by Imperial soldiers. Fortunately, your team has escaped from what passes for a cell.

Now you just have to get out of the Imperial fortress, find your way back to the Xenogate, and return to base. It would be good to stop at the anomaly site and collect all the data recordings, too.

Hm, I wonder why that Imperial Legate was so interested in the anomaly site? Maybe you should figure that out too. It's bound to be something bad...

Transhumanity stands on the edge of evolution and extinction. With the ability to upload our minds and nanofabricate almost anything, death and scarcity were nearly defeated. Then a war against super-intelligent AIs infected with an alien virus wiped out 95% of the population. Earth is a ruined wasteland, overrun by machines. The remnants of transhumanity—bio-engineered humans, uplifted animals, and infolife—expanded throughout the Solar System.

It's one of those months where there's so much to do and learn that you feel like you need to be in than one place at the same time. That's no problem! Upload your mindstate, fork it into copies each for its own chore, use standard tools to clip away their unnecessary memories and cut down that file size, and transmit them far afield - and when they come home, merge yourself together again. Nothing to worry about, perfectly routine.

But today you're back at home on Mars, along with your other forks - and your original self's gone missing. That's bad.

(This is a published scenario for Eclipse Phase, a game of transhumanism and horror)

The New Neighbours

Facilitator:
Michael Foster

The teens of Grantsville, New Mexico, don't have a lot to do during the long hot Summers. Too old for stories of "Shiny Man" with his missing face and bottomless pockets for stealing children, or the vampire who supposedly used to live in the big ranch house back in the 70s. The new USAF tracking station has certainly revitalised the town, but it's not exactly a tourist attraction. Back in the 80s, plucky kids breaking into a military place was commonplace, but in a post-9/11 world it'll just get you shot. Meaning the so-called Alpha Kids are at a loose end and looking for a suitably interesting distraction to keep them occupied. Lucky for them some odd new people have moved in across the street...

Uncharted Worlds: The Falcon Expanse

Facilitator:

You hit the jump button, the world turns inside out. On the other side of nowhere is the Falcon Expanse, a three day crawl across a dull transit system in the heart of a nebula. But instead of hot gas and pretty scenery, you have proximity alarms, a debris field, and a system full of dangerous wreckage. Who fought this battle? Who has survived? And what sort of a mess are they going to get you in this time?
