Cast of Characters

This is the list of characters currently available. It may change.

If there is a character in the following lists that you would like to play, we need you to pre-register When you pre-register please indicate that you wish to play in the live game and indicate which character (or characters) you are interested in playing. If you have already pre-registered, feel free to update your preference via the regform

Note that the groupings assigned in the cast list are the character groups most likely to spend the evening with each other

As characters are finally assigned to players, the Taken box will be set. When this happens that character is no longer available.

The producers, as is usual in circumstances such as this, reserve the right to cast people for roles, and there is no guarantee you will get your choice, even if you are first to apply for a character. Feel free to apply for multiple roles, preferrably indcating your order of preference, or just state the general category and type of character you are interested in, if nothing appropriate is currrently available.

To assist us in casting, if you have played in a Kapcon live game or attended an Aliens event in the past, please let the producers know in which game and what role you played.

Key Characters, Supporting Characters and Extras

In the list of characters below, each character is labelled as to its presumed complexity to play , one of :

  • Key Characters

    These characters are important to the primary plot and need people of experience and/or skill to play them. It is suggested that if this is your first LARP you don't apply for one of these characters.

    Similarly, if you are attending primarily for the fun of the costume and don't want to risk being embarrasssed by being called on to stand out from the crowd, do not request one of these characters.

  • Supporting Characters

    If you have some experience at LARPing, or are quite confident about your ability to look foolish in public, but don't want to work too hard, these are the parts for you.

  • Extras, or Bit Parts

    If this is your first time, or you are more interested in watching what happens than taking part, then these are the parts for you.

    In general, these characters are not required to drive the plot but if you are given one of these charaters, don't feel put out, bit characers can still have signficant effect on the plot, and are often used to introduce important information into the game.

    If you don't pre-register you will probably be assigned one of these characters by default.

The important elements to choosing your character are:

  1. Is there a group you want to be part of (either because it sounds neat or you know people who will be in it)?
  2. Do you want to play a good or evil character? Good guys are listed as 'white' hat, evil as 'black' and everyone else is 'gray'.
  3. How important do you want the character to be? Key characters will be involved in the central scenes and plots of the game. Supporting characters will tend to be involved in these scenes but not right in the action. Extras can pretty much do as much or as little as they want.
  4. Are they gender specific?

Characters are displayed here by social group, along with that groups goal, or at least what can be publically said about the group goal.
