Set in the Warhammer 40,000 Universe, the players take on the roles of Inquisitorial acolytes. On the mining planet Sepheris Secondus, a terrorist group known as the Broken Chains has begun to cause more trouble than the local law enforcement can handle. The attacks of these mutant malcontents have begun to take a very sinister turn, with strange and disturbing technology being utilised. What is really going on on Sepheris Secondus, and can the Inquisition stop the heretical plans that seek to throw the entire sector into chaos?

Something in the Heir

Facilitator:
Sarah Daymond

When everything goes to hell, it doesn't matter who you know. It's what you know. What you remember.

What really matters is where you came from.

The Proga family came from old money, and they squandered it away. They hold the same grand party every year, but every time it gets a little less extravagant, a little less special. Rumour was, they'd spent it all on secret collaborations with the government. Not that they have anything to show for it, now.

This year, the only reason they're holding the party at all is the weight of tradition. You probably won your ticket from a radio station. It doesn't matter. Are you here for the party, though, or something more important?

Are you ready to learn where you're headed?

Ink Will Have To Do

Facilitator:

London, 1888. It's July, stinking hot, and the city is crawling with things that can't be mentioned - vampires, werewolves, mummies, succubi, fae (dark horrid things - in the Islands they know, but the upper classmen here sniff and tell tall tales)...

...and now dead prostitutes.

For one reason or another, you're getting drawn into petty mortal disputes that, you're to find, are far less petty than they seem, and far beyond mortal than they have any right to be.

Silver Kiss of the Magical Twilight of the Full Moon Double Feature

Facilitator:
Sophie Melchior and Jenni Dowsett

Two towns, both alike in dignity, linked by a big scary forest right plum in between the two of them. The towns of Hosepipe and Garden Chair, Washington are rivals and have been since the dawn of time. Well, since anyone can remember anyway. Come join in on some crazy frenetic excitement of the teen supernatural romance flavour, two groups of supernaturals, two sets of human best friends and two teachers who have an interesting past, this isn't a game for the weak of heart or those who like to take roleplaying seriously.

Phase Shift

Facilitator:
Robert Shaw

The secret entrance to the tomb is somewhere in this South American jungle. Your team is prepared, each member slogging their way through the dense foliage. Still, you can’t help feeling that something isn’t right... maybe something is off with the other team members, or this expedition is more than it first seemed, or the secrets of the temple are just...
It must be the heat, surely....

‘Phase Shift’ is a systemless game about character interpretation, character interaction, character teamwork. As a player, you take on the role of a single character, and throughout the game will be challenged to re-interpret that character based on a ‘phase shifting’ setting, and interactions with the other members of your team.
The game is equal parts serious, fun, and a celebration of some of geekdom’s favourite genres!

Dropping Like Flies

Facilitator:

Another trimester at VUW and everything's just damn *peachy*. The philosophy students are splitting hairs to try and get laid, biology professors are killing rats, your crush just walked through a concrete block the other day, scarves are the latest fashion (especially for pretty male first years), you've got three assignments due in the second week, your roommate has the weirdest collection of books you have ever seen in your entire life, you think your theatre lecturer is some kind of fae or something and there's been a string of weird suicides lately.

...wait, *what*?

All is not well at VUW's Halls of Residences, and for once, the fact that a devil is after your soul may be the least of your worries...

Call for games

The KapCon dragon has awoken, and is searching for games for KapCon next year. If you're a regular GM, you should have already received an email. If not, we're after three-hour tabletops, ideally with pre-generated characters (we're also after ~10 - 20 player larps, but that seems well in-hand). Your game must run to time, otherwise you're cutting into people's eating, socialising, and personal comfort time.

As for what to run, the answer is "anything". Seriously, we don't care. If you want to run Macho Women With Guns, or a tense Call of Cthulhu scenario, or a classic D&D dungeon bash, or even (shudder) Spawn of Fashan (look it up), go ahead. The market will decide. All we ask is that you tell people up-front what they're in for (so, adult content, trigger warnings etc) so they can make an informed choice on whether to play. If you're looking for inspiration, there's a thread on NZRaG called "What games do you want to see at KapCon 22?" which lists some stuff that people want to see.

No, you don't need to write the scenario yourself (but many do). Its quite OK to run something prewritten (hell, I do that every year).

Once you've decided to run a game, fill out the form here (that's right, the one in the sidebar marked "Run a Game!")

"What's in it for me", you ask? Fame, fortune, the esteem of your peers and players. Yes, yes, OK, we also have discounted entry for anyone running a game. And more importantly, GM picks, so you can gain guaranteed entry into another game (KapCon only pre-registers the first two rounds, so this lets you sign up for that hot game in round 5 before anyone else).

With six (now 6.5) sessions of gaming to fill, and about 6 people per group, on average everyone needs to run a session. So please step up and do your bit to make KapCon a success.

WR Arnimor DUAL: Echo

Facilitator:
Luke Walker and Nick Pitt

Year 5 of the First Arcanotech War. The Nazzadi, a proud and ruthless alien race, has moved through the solar system setting ablaze Earth’s colonies. On arriving in Earth’s orbit, the conflict soon escalates into a full-scale war. At the forefront of this armada, a cell of Nazzadi soldiers achieve the honour of piloting Weaponized Relics. On the New Earth Government’s Ptolemy station, a class of Human cadets hope to earn their wings and join the fight. But soon all of their lives will change forever. Left with no choice, they are thrown into battle and must defend themselves, their family and their friends.

This game is run jointly with ‘WR Arnimor DUAL Unity’ and involves both cross over and combined play experiences between them. Echo focusses on the cell of Nazzadi soldiers and Unity focusses on the class of Human cadets. Each scenario is able to be played separately, though doing so will produce spoilers as there is about a 25% overlap in content.
