Dungeon World: A Litany of Scratches

Facilitator:
IdiotSavant

The High Uttvelt is a natural labyrinth of impossibly high cliff walls, cut with deep gullies. Long ago, a thriving monastery stood on its edge, guarding a sacred healing spring and sending groups of monks west to pay for fine goods with silver. But decades ago the monks stopped coming, and the area was overrun with Drakes. But maybe some of their silver is still there...

The Dragon of Copper Mountain

Facilitator:
Tim Crow

Brave Heroes Needed! Gold and Glory await! The posters were fresh, as was the plume of smoke that rose from the nearby mountain. The miners digging deep along the veins of copper had reached their lowest levels yet, disturbing a great sleeping dragon deep in the mount. They had all fled, and now, a few days march away by the river road lies the town of Stromburg. The dragon has been seen flying high overhead, and the townfolk are nervous and gossip is spreading. The Baron needs people to go talk to the dragon, find out what it wants, and resolve this all, one way or another.

Not just ordinary people, but people with skills and power! With drive and determination. Heroes! You?

Are you a Fighter, striding into battle with your ancestral weapon? A Rogue, skulking to get to places where others cannot, master of traps and shadow? Or maybe a Wizard, learned master of the arcane? Or another individual of great deeds to come?

This is going to be a classical high fantasy Dungeon World game. Dungeon World is a rules lite take on the Dungeons and Dragons style of game, powerful heroes overcoming fantastical obstacles. There's no rules knowledge needed, and the themes are all the good bits of pulp fantasy.

Pregenerated characters will be provided, just write in your name, assign some looks, and we can leap right in. All you'll need is two six sided dice, a pencil and some scrap paper.

Oh, and a Taste of Adventure, to seek The Dragon of Copper Mountain!

Servants of the Cinder Queen

Facilitator:

Many a fireside tale has been spun from the Forsaken Fell, that stony ledge halfway up Hvitr’s Horn where lies a maze of broken walls clotted by black lava. Before your grandmother’s grandmother walked the world, they say the mountain vomited forth molten rock that destroyed a monastery, its attendant village, and all who dwelt within. Since then, few have dared set foot upon the Fell, fearing the attention of the charred spirits said to stalk the ruins.

One by one, residents of the village at the foot of the mountain have been disappearing. Rumors of distant screams carried on the cold wind and flaming skulls flying through the night have driven those that have not fled to cower fearfully in their huts.

The time has come to get to the bottom of whatever lies beneath the Forsaken Fell.

Dungeon World

Facilitator:
Nick Adams

Dungeon World (powered by the Apocalypse) is a game of typical fantasy adventuring tropes, filled with stereotypes, monsters, swords, sorcery, and likely epic failure. It takes the best of games like D&D and shrinks the complexity down while enhancing the inter-group dynamics. It's an easy to learn, pick-up game - ideal for people more interested in a relaxed session of gaming.

For this game, players will use class templates to generate their dynamic band of hearty adventurers setting out for glory/rewards/boredom. Rather than run through a pre-generated adventure, players will construct the adventure spontaneously at the beginning, and then develop the plot as the game goes on. Use of skills will let the players themselves introduce information and plot twists, rather than having their fate pre-determined.

This game is being run as surge protection, and offers a more casual (but yet still epic) gaming experience.

We be monsters!

Facilitator:
Sophie Melchior

You are a goblin, or a kobold, or a bugbear... or something of that ilk. The sunlovers come to your cave, kill your siblings and steal your stuff. You've had enough!

We are monsters is a Dungeon World hack where you play the creepy crawlies. Character and word generation is collaborative so no two games are alike!

We be... monsters?

Facilitator:
Sophie M

You are all members of a monstrous race. Maybe all the same, maybe some sort of crazy cross cultural group. Regardless the dirty sunloving butchers are muscling in on your territory. What are you going to do about it?
