LARP: The Left Hand

Facilitator:
Katia De Lu & Matthew Baird

You are a member of a new-age cult, run by two charismatic leaders. They have invited you, and several of your rivals, to an exclusive event where you must prove your worthiness to become their new Left Hand. Only one will be chosen.

Can you navigate the toxic environment of manipulation, constant scrutiny, and bitter rivalries to be the chosen one? What inner mysteries of the cult can you discover? And what happened to the last Left Hand, whose place you are vying for?

Notes:
- This has nothing to do with Lovecraftian mythos. The intention is for it to be dark and intense, exploring the manipulative tactics of real-world cults.
- Two players will be cast as the cult leaders. This will come with a bit of extra reading, but also extra knowledge/power/scope to make up aspects of the cult. The cult leaders will spend a significant part of the LARP interviewing candidates.

Content warnings:
Intense emotions, seriously unhealthy relationships (potentially one-sided and/or involving infidelity), gaslighting and manipulation, verbal/emotional abuse, financial and emotional exploitation, drugs, murder, suicide, religion

LARP: T.R.Y.S.T. (Transtemporally Rekindling Yesterday's Sweeter Times

Facilitator:
Ciarán Searle

Congratulations Oliver and Charlotte Wilson!
Your application to the T.R.Y.S.T. marriage counselling service has been successful!
We have decided that the "reunion" package will be the most beneficial in your situation. Your biological data will be used to obtain a temporal lock on your past selves so that we may present you with a look at your entire relationship and let you assess how you wish to proceed with the rest of your lives; together or apart.

This game takes a good, hard look at the concepts of true love and identity. Throughout the different periods of our life, are we essentially different people?

Headspace: Blunt Force Trauma in Vancouver.
(Powered by the Apocalypse.)

This game has a central premise that is rather similar to the tv show Sense8!

The year 2074 has kind of sucked as far as Vancouver is concerned. 6 months ago a series of tsunami's tore apart the infrastructure, 3 months ago a plague led to the corporate security enforced quarantine zones and now 5 corporations are picking through the remains, feasting on the bodies and hiding the blame.
That doesn't sit well with you or the allies that share your headspace. Sharing each others skills makes you much more capable than those who would shut you down. Unfortunately, it also means you also share each others baggage and emotions. Dealing with that may be your greatest challenge.

This game is, on the one hand, about being hyper-capable kick arse super spy Jason Bourne/Mission Impossible types.
On the other hand, it's about emotional overload, coming to term with regrets and sharing intimate failures and successes. Because this style of play can get quite intense I will be implementing the 'X Card' where any player can call the end of a scene without having to explain or justify. I want a safe and non-judgemental place to explore what's inside the characters heads.

LARP: The Face of Oblivion

Facilitator:

2277, May 17, Asteroid Habitat Aoraki Mountain, Captain's Address to Crew:

"People, we've done this before. The system newcomer Oblivion, whatever its mass, is just another flying rock. Killing rocks is our trade - we have the technology, the manpower, and the will. Earth will not fall on our watch."

2278, April 4, Asteroid Habitat Aoraki Mountain, Captain's Address to Crew:

"... in light of Oblivion 3's failure due to catastrophic equipment malfunction, technical crews will be inspecting Aoraki's infrastructure early this year. We trust that our crew will behave in the spirit of Aoraki as Oblivion passes through our orbit..."

2278, April 4, Captain's Private Log

"This isn't over."

For more than a hundred years the people of Earth and its surrounding space habitats have been fighting the Rock War - a collection of solid masses are passing willy-nilly through the Solar System, many of which could profoundly damage the mother planet. Most have been neutralised - humanity is winning! But now the largest planet-killer of them all, code-named Oblivion, has defeated the last three attempts to divert it. Soon it will pass through the orbit of Asteroid Habitat Aoraki Mountain, almost close enough to see, and the Captain has one last desperate gambit in mind...

But oh - this will cost. Join the habitat's officers in the last two hours before an irrevocable decision is made. Sometimes there aren't any good choices.

What compromises will you make, in the Face of Oblivion?
