Truckstop

Facilitator:
Marcus Bone

You are a member of Security Team Bravo Blue, a patrol unit assigned with securing the perimeter of the Nevada Test and Training Range (a place known to many as 'Area 51').

But despite the fancy name, and the 'exotic' location, it's a boring job, really; most of the time you're simply sitting in your JLTV (Joint Light Tactical Vehicle) counting the tumbleweeds blow by, while trying to remember where exactly the God-damned virtual fence line actual lies! Worse, given the shift nature of your job, you're either sweating like a hog in the desert sun or freezing your unmentionables off in the cold of night while doing it...

Hell, the most excitement you've ever had is that time a group of college geeks straying too close to the base's gates (shouting how they were gonna 'Naruto run' the place - whatever the hell that meant) or when a lost herd of cattle wandered onto the rocket engine test pad (place smelt like barbeque for a month afterwards!). Let's be honest, in the months and years you've spent in the plains and hills around Bald Mountain you've never seen hide nor hair of any secret alien technology or anything even slightly resembling little green men. Instead - all jokes aside - you just get on with your job, which, in this case, is allowing the base's hard working military and civilian personnel to simply do what they need to do in peace!

Truckstop is a modern day, horror-sci-fi scenario for a 3 or 4 players, utilising a homegrown version of the OpenD6 mechanics (what I've called Raw Six) to quickly bring play to the table. As this is a flexibly written adventure, I can ramp up or toned down the horror as required, so happy to have players of all ages at the table!

Note - This scenario was run (under a different system) way back in the mid 2000s - just in case any might have jump on board back then!

The Corbitt House - Call of Cthulhu - beginner friendly

Facilitator:
Keeper

This scenario takes place in Lovecraft Country, and is suitable for up to 6 beginner investigators. Can you survive the Horror with your mind and body intact? In Call of Cthulhu games, that is the real challenge.

A landlord, Mr. Knott, asks you to examine an old house in central Boston, known as the Corbitt House. The former tenants, the Macario family, were involved in a tragedy and the owner wishes to understand the mysterious happenings at the house and set matters straight. Mr. Knott been unable to rent the house out since the tragedy and hopes that you can clear things up and restore its good name. He offers to reimburse you for your time and trouble.

Call of Cthulhu is typically set in the interwar period between 1919 and 1939. The Cthulhu Mythos, as it has come to be called, originates with the writings of HP Lovecraft. Subsequently a number of other authors added to the corpus, which is why it is called the Cthulhu Mythos and not the Lovecraft Mythos. Many other RPG systems now exist set in the mythos, not always in the 1920s.

Call of Cthulhu is a game of cooperative investigation but unlike many other RPGs is quite dangerous. Sanity and your very life are always at risk. It is gritty and apart from the Fantasy Horror elements, aims to be quite realistic. A stab or a gunshot can kill you outright. However, smart investigation and care can mean all the investigators can survive and solve the mystery. Players used to high hitpoints and magic potions of healing may be disappointed.

Sea Levels Rising

Facilitator:
Karen Wilson

Childermas Atoll has been gradually eroding into the ocean, but Cyclone Hilda appears to have accelerated its demise. In the aftermath of the cyclone, there has been no contact from anyone on the island. Satellite pictures suggest that Stella Maris Mission and the Happy Squid processing complex are the only major buildings that survived the storm. An Emergency Response team was dispatched by seaplane from Auckland yesterday, but ceased transmitting en route.

Now you are on your way to Childermas. Your official role is to find and assist any survivors and clear the airfield so supplies and emergency personnel can be flown in. But as agents of a secret international taskforce, you are expecting trouble of a different kind.

Conspiracy X: All Good Deeds...

Facilitator:
Marcus Bone

It began, as it always does, with a phone call. “Mother is ill and requires your assistance…” How it ends, however, is up to you…

All Good Deeds… is a Conspiracy X adventure in which the characters will discover that the consequences of change can be very harsh indeed. Set in Atlanta in early 1999, this episode includes cancer victims, MiBs, FEMA and more than a few Doctors, as the group races against time to discover the source of the aforementioned change before it is too late.
