Outcast Silver Raiders: Slaves of Ulmaator

Facilitator:
Andy Millar

You were born a slave, one of hundreds owned by the Warlock Ulmaator. You were raised in the child-pens by ghost-eyed caretakers, and when you were strong enough to move stones, you were set to work.

The years passed. You watched men and women hauled off as sacrifices to the Warlock’s whims. You waited. You found others, like-minded, unwilling to accept a life of bondage. One night a group of you escaped. You stole a small boat and struck out across the seas.

But Ulmaator summoned something, and it pursued you. A dæmon. It is implacable. Stones bounce from its hide. The foamy saliva that drips from the holes in its tongue melts skin, leather, iron. Its teeth can shear through solid steel. Its rolling eyes are lambent. It feeds on human flesh. It pursued you, caught you, and its strange limbs destroyed your boat.

You washed up here on the shore of this strange land, but you can feel, and you know, beyond a shadow of a doubt: it is coming.

Old Garathol died beneath the waves, but on the journey, they had told you of a ritual to Banish Demons. You must discover that ritual, or be devoured.

Outcast Silver Raiders is a blood-drenched occult medieval roleplaying game in the OSR tradition. It is what the televangelists, the hack investigative journalists, and the grasping Hollywood producers imagined when they caused a satanic panic around RPGs in the eighties. Daemons. Darkness. Sacrifice. Blood spilling over cracked altars in desecrated chapels. Players portray brutal warriors, clever rogues, and conniving sorcerers who reject the barbaric theocracy of medieval society to seek fortune and glory as outcasts beyond the reach of lords or God.

The Handiwork Heroes and the Heartwinter's Night Mystery

Facilitator:
D Woods

Your group of fortune-hunters and militant entrepreneurs known as the Handiwork Heroes all hail from a similar region of the Oathsworn League, in the world of Valn. Specifically, a number of the company have their roots in the settlement of Talden, a mixed community of halflings and humans nestled at the base of the mighty Cloudcaught Range, in the district of Oakfields in a country called Rutlandshire.
It is here that, after half a dozen years of adventuring together, vanquishing evil and aiding the helpless, your leader Captain Elminai “the Warbird” Bronaion has decided to return to for the occasion of Heartwinter’s Night.
You arrived in Talden three days before Year’s End of 140 Oathsworn Calendar, and spent the next three weeks either catching up with family members, helping out in the community, and/or being treated to rounds at the Frosted Flagon as the returning heroes you are while telling tall tales of your journeys. But rumours start to catch your ears something is amiss in your quaint little township...

Ironsworn: Beginnings

Facilitator:
Anarchangel

You are a hero sworn to undertake perilous quests in the Ironlands. As an Ironsworn, you will explore untracked wilds, plunge into subterranean caverns, fight desperate battles, forge bonds with isolated communities and uncover the lost secrets of this harsh land.

Are you ready to swear iron vows and see them fulfilled--no matter the cost?

In this session you will create Ironsworn and the iron vows they have sworn, and play to find out whether they can fulfil those vows. We will also set the setting dials for further games of Ironsworn run in Games on Demand over the rest of the weekend. There is no requirement to play in further games and no requirement that you play in this one to play in the others at GoD, it's just a neat way of building a shared set of stories and experiences over the course of the convention.

Content Warning: depending on the table horror elements are likely, also murder is highly likely. We will use the Script Change safety tool, Open Door policy, and begin with a discussion of lines and veils.

Forbidden Lands

Facilitator:
Conan McKegg

"Round the beggar from Varassa all sat in a ring,
and by the campfire they sat and heard his song.
And about walkers and wolfkin and every terrible thing,
and of his fear he sang to them all night long:
“There is something beyond the mountains, beyond the howls beyond the mist, there is something behind the veils, behind hearts cold as stone.
Hearken, something walks and whispers, walks and lures you in and whimpers:
Come to us, for this earth shall ever be ours and ours alone!”

In this open-world survival roleplaying game, you’re not heroes sent on missions dictated by others - instead, you are raiders and rogues bent on making your own mark on a cursed world. You will discover lost tombs, fight terrible monsters, wander the wild lands.

For years the Forbidden Lands have been blocked off by the Blood Mist. Communities have had to survive and develop without any contact with each other. Now the mist has mysteriously lifted, and the world is open for exploration.

Become part of a living world RPG where the actions of previous players has an impact on the world, what towns exist, what you will find in the dungeons and fortresses. No two games will be the same, and you'll get to experience a unique story built around unique PCs with randomly generated histories that will tie into every decision and experience you have.

Enter the Forbidden Lands and discover this darkly fascinating world.
