EPOCH After Dark

Facilitator:
Dale

In round 3.5 I will be offering to facilitate any one of the following EPOCH scenarios:

1. Fever Pitch - it's the hottest summer on record and the city is a tinder box.
2. Sunshine Falls - visit an idyllic small town for the funeral of a mentor.
3. Price Slash - come to the grand opening of an exciting, new mall and shop 'till you drop.
4. Road Trip - leave the city behind for a getaway to an isolated mountain cabin.
5. Hard Time - a science fiction scenario set on a state of the art prison facility orbiting Phobos, a moon of Mars.

EPOCH is a game of character-driven survival horror. The goal is to deliver a tense and scary experience in a single game session. EPOCH players are active participants in the creation of the game atmosphere and have complete control over the creation and ultimate fate of their characters.

Ink Will Have To Do

Facilitator:
Freya Sacksen

London, 1888. It's July, stinking hot, and the city is crawling with things that can't be mentioned - vampires, werewolves, mummies, succubi, fae (dark horrid things - in the Islands they know, but the upper classmen here sniff and tell tall tales)...

...and now dead prostitutes.

For one reason or another, you're getting drawn into petty mortal disputes that, you're to find, are far less petty than they seem, and far beyond mortal than they have any right to be.

Death In The Streets

Facilitator:
Alasdair Sinclair

Prohibition was the best thing that ever happened to you. You used to be the lowest scum on the streets, now you’re welcome at every fancy place in town. Millionaires know your name, and your phone number. Gin, whisky, champagne are the lubricants of high class life: your life. You were a big man about the towns, and had the respect of all your friends.

Now when you drive through the streets it’s with a shotgun on your lap, and when the mists descend you don’t go out at all if you’re smart. It ain’t the law. You’ve got him beat. It’s something else. Something that ain’t no respecter of authority, and ain’t too worried by bullets and armoured glass neither.

Some say it’s the devil come for his share. You say: fuck him. This is your town.

EPOCH is the game of character-driven horror. It aims to deliver a genuinely scary experience in a single game session by placing the focus of the game squarely on the characters, supported by a simple, yet evocative, system. EPOCH players are expected to be active participants in the creation of the game atmosphere and have complete control over the creation and ultimate fate of their characters.

Pleasures of the Flesh

Facilitator:
Alasdair Sinclair

Your voyage on the Sea Princess is a dream come true: at sea in a 5-star floating hotel. Every luxury known to mankind is readily available aboard this floating city. Food, wine, sex, even drugs. On the High Seas you are beyond the reach of the law, perhaps beyond the reach of morality. You are also beyond its help. As you indulge your desires and shed your inhibitions your vices seem virtues and your virtues are commonplace. It is a dream life, a dream that could be yours forever. When offered the choice of eternal pleasure, at the price of a moment’s suffering, who will say no?

Fever Pitch

It’s the hottest summer on record. People are doing everything they can to beat the heat, but with regular brown-outs interrupting the electricity supply and a forecast for soaring temperatures ahead, many people are short on sleep, and tempers are beginning to fray. The city is a tinderbox and just one spark will set off a chain reaction of terrifying events.

LARP: Bad Dreams: Purgatory

Facilitator:
Ivan Essin

Written by Ivan (Vanya) Essin, Gareth Sandford, Robert Birtles-Crute, Porl Bowdler

Three years ago, a wealthy, upper class recluse was found dead. Albert Tenneford Trismegistus died of natural causes, a heart attack, could happen to anyone, especially at such an old age. But you don't believe that for a second now do you? Guilt, you either have it or you don't, and I'm not talking about the type of guilt that you feel, I'm talking about the guilt that binds one person to another. The type that no therapy can ever free you from.

So as you take your final breath in this world, answer me these questions. Are you afraid? Is your soul clean? Surely it might scare you just a little that it might matter?

Escaping responsibility is easy in our world. Now open your eyes, see how easy it is in the next.

Bad Dreams is a supernatural horror larp, with emphasis on heavy roleplaying above all else. Please be advised the game contains highly mature and offensive content.

The Great Kiwi Summer Holiday

Facilitator:
Trish Plunket

"Muuuuum, I'm booooored."
You've ridden your bike, played with your rollerblades, padda tennis is lame, you broke your water pistol three days ago, you've played "Guess Who" eighteen million times, and your sister is annoying you.

And there's no TV.

You're a kid and summer holidays at Lake Taupo are always wet and boring. The grown-ups just want grown-up time and the kids next door went home two days ago. Kind of weird that they didn't say good bye. And now, not only is it going to rain, apparently there's a big storm coming...

(Note: yes, I will run this this year - sorry about the whole not making it last year due to sickness.)

Sundown

Facilitator:
Dale

It’s easy to feel alone as the shadows gather and the pale moon rises over the High Plains. The Cherokee say that on nights like this, the cold wind from the prairie has a mind of its own – a malignant chill, born of the darkness, which eats at your warmth, and steals all compassion.

It was a night like that when Barton Duvall rode into Tombstone. A night like that when they found what was left of little Alina Hundle –the few sad remains, barely recognizable, that Barton had left for her family to bury. And, it was a night like that when you realised that justice was more than a word bandied around by fearful shopkeepers – it was a necessity.

The year is 1880, and the posse is forming…

Sundown is a character-driven scenario of the old-west written to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Call of Cthulhu. It was originally run at Fright Night 5.

Eridanus Rising

Facilitator:
Ellen Boucher

The fantastically wealthy and eccentric Henry Delacroix is throwing his sixtieth birthday party in his vacation home in Antarctica, inviting the handful of associates who can actually stand to be around him. That night, old crimes will resurface and fallen souls will rise in rebellion. Isolated from the rest of the world, the guests must untangle the old man’s life and his disturbing theology in order to take sides in a cosmic battle. Their successes and failures will decide the fate of the gods and the future of the world.
