Wellington Anniversary Weekend January 20th - 21st 2024

A Measure of Faith

Facilitator:
Luke Walker

The Inquisiton has found the crusader citadel of Martyr’s Point to have fallen to the profane. Rumours of the ancient god-monster, Okka the Eater, spread as quickly as the plague that shares it's name. But the truth eludes those seeking confessions, despite endless nights of torture, and an elite team of witchhunters is called to root out evil and decide where the wrongness lies.

Shadow of the Demon Lord is a dark fantasy RPG of horror and madness by Rob Schwalb, a designer on WFRP2e, D&D5e, A Song of Ice and Fire RPG and the Black Company RPG. Fans of Joe Abercrombie's First Law series will especially enjoy this scenario. The characters are a band of hardbitten troubleshooters, living in a world darkened by the Demon Lord, risking corruption, madness, and death. Dungeons will be explored, depravity faced, and nightmares overcome.

You play one of The Computer's elite agents. Your job is to search out and destroy the enemies of The Computer. Your worst fear is that The Computer will discover that you are one of these enemies. Today, your friend The Computer has asked you to report to the WHO sector briefing room. This may have something to do with the announcement that all the cleaning robots in WHO sector have begun attacking medical personnel. You had better hurry to the briefing, you don't want to be tardy!

Kapcon XXV: Call for larps

Kapcon wants your larps!

We are planning to run a larp stream this year, with the aim of providing around 24 player spaces per round. The parameters of running a larp at kapCon are pretty simple: runs in 3 hours, fits in a classroom, 8 - 15 players, minimal set-dressing (because you won't have time to do it between rounds). Please also note that the changing facilities aren't great, so costume-light is an advantage.

We will pre-register players if your game is costumed, to allow you to cast in advance.

If you're interested, please fill out the game registration form

We'd like to have larps for rounds 1 and 2 at least sorted by mid-October for the main launch, and the sooner we have a larp timetable set the sooner we can start getting players.

Games on Demand

Facilitator:
Lots of people!

Once again, we'll be running Games on Demand at Kapcon 2021! We'll have lots of fun, easy to play games as usual.

Call for Volunteers

Games on Demand urgently needs more facilitators! Can you help?

Necessary qualifications are:
- You would like to run some games.
OR
- You could greet players, find them a game, and send them to the right room.

Low-preparation games are obviously stars here, but games/adventures with prep done in advance are great too (as long as it can be played on demand!) You also get to claim the GM's reduced entry fee and preferential game picks.

Have a think about if you’d like to take part, and let me know (email to mike@genericgames.co.nz).

Hussade, or The Pot

Facilitator:
Bruno Knewstubb

Quandos Vorn must Die!

A game of vengeance sought sought between the stars, with peculiar cultures and wry humor inspired by the novels of Jack Vance:

Driven heroes will work against a sinister conspiracy as they close upon their goal: the destruction of their nemesis Quandos Vorn!
Vorn's name is feared throughout the Alastor cluster, but the vengeance-seekers each nurture a personal dream of cutting him down. Drawn together by chance or design, they may finally achieve their goal!
They know that his agent is present at the hussade field, but what is his game? How will the agent lead them to Vorn? And what if Quandos Vorn himself has come to watch his handiwork, but should pass unrecognised? It must not be so!

NB This game uses the DERPG Tagline system: players will be rewarded when they integrate specific witty comments into their banter.

PIGEONS

Facilitator:
Rachel Hannover O'Connor

The concrete jungle is cracked high-rises, powerlines, graffiti on flickering street lamps, chewing gum on the pavement.

Sometimes it's acrid yellow smoke and chalk circles, and you gots to stay away from those. Once you saw a thing with, uh.. with.. at least… three-plus-more-plus-many weird bendy legs come out.

Pigeons are SCRAPPY and BOLD and your spinning little beady eyes DON’T MISS NUFFIN. Not like those RUBBISH STARLINGS in the Beakers gang. ha.

No. You are the CLAWS. You are cunning and tough! Which is why you can deal with ANYTHING. Even mystery appearing ground-holes that try to kidnap you at night.

Strength Within You

Eventually you come upon some strangers, maybe together you can find your missing loved ones. Things would be easier too if you could find anyone else, or a place to eat. Can you go on with your loved ones gone? Do you have the strength within you?

You and your friends have finally reached the age where you can begin your journey into the big wide green. Put on those sturdy rainboots, trade those smelly sleeping bags for delicious rations, load up your extra pony and (especially) keep your Tastegood Taste spell handy. Surely, the road from Grave to Meadowton can't be too dangerous for your first adventure?
