Nobilis: The Deceivers Ball

Facilitator:
Conan McKegg

You are the Nobilis, humans elevated to godlike status in order to protect the core concepts of the world while your masters, the Imperators, fight an endless battle with beings from beyond space and time - The Excrucians - who seek to unmake everything.

You have nearly complete power over a concept. You could be the Noble of Air - controlling all aspects of the concept of Air. Not just air but the IDEA of air. The essence itself.

You could be the Noble of Lost Things and have control over all things misplaced or forgotten.

Whoever you are, you and your fellow Nobilis have been sent an unusual invite. One that could save creation once and for all. Or doom it. For the head Deceiver, the most famous and most powerful Excrucian has invited you to a ball. An event where it claims to find a peace between those from beyond Creation and those who protect it.

Obviously it's a trap. You'll want to pick your best formalwear for this battle.

Nobilis is a freeform diceless RPG that uses resource management to keep the pressure on as you play gods who are sworn to protect creation. Quirky, imaginative, and engaging - this is a classic game of divine power in a strange modern day setting.

Be prepared for anything.

Blood and Water

Facilitator:
Jamie Sands

You know that TV show with the vampire, the werewolf and the ghost all flatting together? It's pretty funny, until it gets really dark and sad...

well this game is the game of that idea. You're all not quite human and you're all flatting together. Sure it's cute that the zombie is making friends with the kid next door but is it really safe for him to be babysitting them? Who's turn is it to do the dishes anyway? And why does the new flatmate keep drowning people?

Blood and Water is a shared narrative game, character and player driven. Expect black comedy and emotional connections.

"It was the middle of the day when the dame walked into my office. I could tell the moment I saw her that she was trouble - good-looking trouble, but trouble nonetheless. She slammed a foot-long wooden stake down on my desk and said she had a problem, a vampire problem, and she wanted it gone. I told her I didn't believe in vampires. She produced a thick wad of cash and asked how much. 'Honey, for $500 a day, I'll believe anything...'"

I'm going back to my roots for KapCon 2018: you'll be playing hard-boiled detectives working for the San Francisco branch of the Continental, stolen from Hammett. I'm going to bring to the table Tommy guns, fast cars, sultry seducers of all genders, clues, murder, extortion, arson, and because we love tropes: Vampires. You're going to bring hard-boiled dialogue, hard-boiled action, and hard-boiled morals. Together we're going to kill a lot of Vampires or die trying. Probably die trying.

The ArtLife Foundation is a non-profit organisation that purchases property and rents it out to professional artists at low cost. However, no building has given them more trouble than the MacAllister building. For some reason there always seems to be a high turnover of tenants.

As residents of the MacAllister building you know things that the ArtLife Foundation could not even imagine. By night the building changes, doors appear where none were before and the exit which once lead to the roof now leads into a near-endless expanse of rooms where nothing is impossible anymore. For some of you this is exhilarating, for others terrifying. However, you will soon discover that the true cost of living in the MacAllister Building is more than the rent charged by the ArtLife Foundation.

Afterlife

Michael Foster

Welcome to the Edge.
Life here isn't always easy. The Mayor controls this city with a tight grip, aided by Agents of the dreaded Corrections Bureau and their faceless Automatons.
There's a war on too, and we all must be vigilant for signs of The Enemy. Their spies could be anywhere, or anyone. But our brave Navy are taking the fight to them and the new fleet about to launch will be the one that finally ends the war. The Mayor says it, so it must be true.
Life in Wartime means some stuff isn't so easy to come by, at least for the likes of you and I. Folks on the East Side never seem to want for much, but that's always the way of things. Prohibition is in force, but you can usually find a drink, if you know the right people.
And of course, you don't want to be outside when the Fog rolls in.

The Apple of Her Eye

Facilitator:
Luke Walker

Survival in the world under the shadow of the Demon Lord is difficult, not just for risk-taking adventurers, but for ordinary folk faced daily with threats of starvation, illness, and madness. What measures would such folk be willing to take to ensure the survival, even prosperity, of an entire community? And who would deny them, saving them from the memories that will haunt them in the small hours of the night?

This scenario is designed as a demonstration of the Shadow of the Demon Lord, a dark fantasy RPG of horror and madness. It is well suited for those new to roleplaying and/or the RPG. The players will have the opportunity to generate their own characters - would-be heroes risking corruption, madness, and death. Dilemmas will be explored, depravity faced, and nightmares overcome.

The sheriff has rounded up a posse of gunslingers and concerned citizens to bring these murders and robbers to justice, but in order to get there, your group will need to traverse the dangerous gulch at sunset - the only time of day the heat is bearable. Don't pay any attention to that rustling, pardner. That's just a snake in the brush.
